Vegan News Network
I signed up for membership at a site called SocialMedian. What’s cool about this is that you can create your own News Network using keywords and news feeds. So I thought it would be cool to build a Vegan News Network and invite people to join in. The news being aggregated from the networks looks really good. So check it out. Just go to Vegan News Network and let me know what you think.

Sun-Dried Tomato and Spinach Quiche
December is one of my favorite months. Whatever the reason, I love that everyone everywhere just seems to be in better spirits than usual this time of year. I also love logging long hours in the kitchen whipping up cookies and candy to share with people that matter to me. I’ll be posting some of my favorite recipes for gift-worthy sweets soon, but one cannot live on sugar alone! Around the holidays, one should also remember to eat quiche. Specifically, this savory sun…
Caramelised Orange and Cardamom upside-down cake
This is my favourite type of cake. The best type of cake. The top is sticky and jammy. The caramel oranges glisten in their shimmery golden pool. Almost toffee like on the edges, it’s all I can do to simply pick away at the topping. The cake underneath itself is pillowy soft, and more than just a canvas for the caramelised fruit, as the scent of cardamom wafts into the air as …
Irish Beauty Rosanna Davison: Go Green, Go Vegan for Paddy’s Day
Former Miss World Rosanna Davison, daughter of singer Chris de Burgh, shows off her stunning plant-fuelled body in new photos released just in time for St Patrick’s Day. Painted, courtesy of Dublin make-up artist Shima Mistry, as a sexy leprechaun lady, the qualified nutritionist is spreading the word that one of the best ways to stay healthy, slim and energised is to go vegan. © Marc O’Sullivan “Vegan meals are packed with nutrients and free of unhealthy animal fat and cholesterol, so they’re a great way to keep your weight down and your energy up”, says Rosanna, who is a certified nutritionist. “The best thing to do for your health and for animals is to go…
The “Happy Exploitation” Partnership
Here is the Bell and Evans website. Bell and Evens is a chicken producer. Bell and Evans advertises that HSUS, PETA, and the Global Animal partnership support it. Please don’t tell me that the major animal groups aren’t partners with the institutional exploiters of animals. Please. Click the picture so that you can read the statements praising “happy exploitation.” ***** If you are not vegan, please go vegan. Veganism is about nonviolence. It’s Simple: Neglected, Chained Dog Dies in the Bitter Cold
Every time the cold hits I think of these situations. What causes a fuck…g human to just leave a dog to die in the cold? F who did this and I hope someone out there pays them a visit in a harmful way. Child abusers are treated with more respect than the innocent outdoor, chained dogs. As stated in the article, “If you see a dog who has been left outdoors, without adequate
THE SPIRITUAL BACKGROUND OF VEGAN “MEAT OF THE FIELDS” – and A RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE SEITAN
I grew up in California, most of that time in San Francisco, within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf. The majority of the rest of my life has been spent on the West Coast of British Columbia (pre-and-post-vegan). My father was Peruvian, with an Italian mother. These facts alone might explain why I have seafood cravings to this day, 25 years after becoming vegan. Some vegans, the ones who turn up their noses at any sort of replication of animal proteins, might say “get over it and eat some nori seaweed” (which I do from time to time), but inventing dishes is my craft, if you will. I can’t help being inspired by memories of the delicious meals …

Baked Samosas
I love Indian food but hate paying for take out. I’ve been trying more and more to make it at home but it never tastes quite as authentic. Sometimes I think my ‘make your own take-out’ meals aren’t *as* good because I don’t use butter/oil/sugar with reckless abandon the way restaurants do. My absolute favorite Indian appetizer is the Samosa. Generally they’re fried dough pockets full of curried potatoes, peas and onion and they’re served with a chutney of some sort. These are of course healthified by using wonton wrappers and baking rather than frying the samosas. However they still have the same delicious flavor …
Review: Apple and Roasted Parsnip Soup
We enjoyed a very nice soup today that we found at the site of Aussie Apples. This is a great winter soup. We kept it on the thick side as we wanted to serve it in wholegrain bread bowls made from hard rolls. We used our own home grown organic apples and parsnips and a leek rather than an onion. Of course we used …

Rosti Casserole with Baked Eggs
When I looked in the Thanksgiving grocery store circular there was an ad on the front page – 10lb. bags of Idaho Potatoes for $.99! It took everything in me to not buy ten bags, I can’t pass up a good deal! I’m usually one to spend a bit more on Yukon Golds (my …

Fennel pear salad I’m ready to say goodbye to soup, stews and roasted vegetables. Now that the days are getting longer and warmer, I’ve been craving refreshing salads. But I find it a challenge to shop this time of year. Our bodies are asking for new revitalizing foods, but summer’s alluring …
Eat More of This Fat to Slim Your Waistline
It’s been one of the most ‘sticky’ pieces of health info to date.In fact, I’d say it’s a bit like a bad penny, it just won’t disappear!Perhaps you still believe the myth…… it began in 1953, following Ancel Keys seriously flawed study, and all these years later, it’s still raising its ugly head! That is, the lie that eating fat makes us fat.The fact is this, research confirms we don’t need to avoid saturated fats after all. And, fats like coconut…
