Universal Standard continues to be one of my all-time favorite brands because of their quality, commitment to maintaining sizes 00-40 in all items, and excellent fit. I love that friends of all sizes can shop the brand, and I want to do whatever I can to get more people to buy from them. Shopping size inclusive stores when you’re straight-sized is an excellent way to support your plus size friends and help increase the chances that they have continued access to styles.

The 2024 Universal Standard Sample Sale is July 18th – August 5th. They’re offering up to 90% off hundreds of wardrobe essentials in sizes 00-40. Tips for Shopping the Universal Standard Sample Sale

To reduce frustration when shopping the sale, consider the following:

• Shop early: The earlier you shop during this sale period, the better chance you’ll have of finding styles in your size.
• Shop by size: Use the filters on the Sample Sale page to filter all of the items by size. This way, you’re only seeing eligible sale items that will fit you. And make sure you know your US size (see below)
• Shop by price: If you’re sticking to a budget, use the price filters to weed out things that might still be marked too high
• Don’t forget it’s final sale: You can’t return these items, so know that going in. I’ve had no problem reselling items in the Facebook US B/S/T Group or on Poshmark, but those are extra steps I’m sure not everyone wants to take.

About Universal Standard sizing

US has the most size-inclusive range of clothes available right now (other than custom/bespoke options). They have sizes 00-40, with incredibly detailed measurements for each item. Their S, M, L, etc labels are different than you’ll be used to, so if you’ve not shopped them before – please consult the size chart! I am 5’10 and usually wear a 28 in Lane Bryant and ELOQUII. My measurements fall between the US XL and 2XL. I have size labels on all the photos below for reference. Questions about sizing? Let me know!

Universal Standard Sample Sale Recommendations

I own a lot of US, so here are a few of the items in the sample sale that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Palermo Divine Jersey Wrap Dress – I LOVE this dress and have worn it weekly since I got it. It is comfortable, the knit is fantastic, and the wrap is interesting – not something I’ve really seen before. It comes in 4 colors.

Athena Divine Jersey Dress – Again, I wear this all the time and love it. It’s super cool in hot weather, but also looks great layered with a denim or moto jacket. Extremely versatile and available in 4 colors – I really want the yellow! The long sleeved, v-neck version of this dress is also in the sale – I have it and love it.

Havana Divine Jersey Dress – Can you see a trend? I love the divine jersey fabric at US! I literally just received this dress 5 days ago and of course it’s now on sale (why does this happen to me?!) but highly recommend it. Extremely comfortable, but do note that the back has a tie – it might be annoying if you have sensory issues. Comes in 3 colors.

Iconic Geneva One Shoulder Dress – I was really surprised to see this dress in the sale – I thought it’d be regular price still. It’s so comfortable and I think looks really elevated. Comes in 6 colors.

Ambroeus Smocked Poplin Dress – I am so mad that I missed out on the kelly green color of this dress in my size, because I have the black one and wear it all the time. It’s a nice stretch poplin that is nice and crisp without getting too wrinkled.

Bellport Sateen Crossover Front Dress – Again, I literally just got this one last week with the Havana dress! It is so, so gorgeous. I waited a long time for sizes to come back in stock for the floral print, but it’s also available in solids. A beautiful fabric, smocked back, and pockets. SIZE NOTE: I personally would suggest sizing down in this dress. I usually wear a US 2XL in dresses, but sized to the XL and probably could have even done an L.

Stephanie Wide Leg Pants—These thick stretch ponte knit wide leg pants are something that I think everyone should own! They come in multiple colors and lengths, but only some combos are on sale. When my friend and I went to the US on Tour stop in Louisville, these were the first things she bought – she had never tried US before and these pants were her gateway.

OTHERS:

• Anything in the Next to Naked fabric for working out – I have so many multiples of the bodyshorts, tops, shorts, etc that I wear regularly.
• Anything that is labeled Foundation – these are intended to be base layers but I wear them on their own because they’re thin and keep their shape and are incredibly stretchy.
• Outerwear if you live in a cold climate. US has excellent outerwear and I saw several of the puffers, vests, and down jackets are included in this sale.
