Denim and I have never had a great relationship. As a size 28 person who is tall (5’10) but with a long torso, short legs, and large lower belly, proportions and availability are a challenge with the vast majority of brands. Universal Standard always kills it with quality items, but they also outdo themselves with the size range available, number of styles/cuts, and washes/finishes.

Hands down, the most popular style of jeans that Universal Standard offers is the Seine. This is a high stretch jean that has several hundred reviews. They come in mid-rise and high-rise, as well as multiple lengths and washes. If you’ve never ordered US denim before, this is where most people start! US recommends sizing down 1 in these because of the stretch.

My favorites from US are high rise and a slimmer cut leg. They are the Whitney Super High Rise, the Joni High Rise Curve, and Donna High Rise Curve.

The Whitney‘s are SUPER high rise, which is always my preference as someone with a B-shaped belly. They have a high amount of stretch, a medium weight, and are comfortable all day.

The Joni‘s are designed for people with a 10″ waist-to-hip difference. They are high rise, but not quite as high as the Whitneys. They are a classic plain front with a slim, tapered, and slightly cropped (on me) leg.

The Donna‘s are high rise and also designed for the same waist-hip difference as the Joni, but are a straight leg style – not nearly as slim cut at the calf and ankle.

It’s not just jeans on sale – other denim items are as well. The Kelsey denim jacket is a perpetual best seller for a reason, and the classic denim shirt is a wardrobe staple. They also have a cute new denim skirt that is a length most of us prefer.

Tips for Shopping the Universal Standard Denim Stack Sale

• Styles and sizes are selling out quickly, so I suggest shopping early if you have your eye on a particular style.
