Change Isn’t Easy… Choose Your Hard!

Do you often feel you’re fighting an uphill battle with yourself as you try to reach your goals?

I fully understand that.

Perhaps you’re full of “buts” as to why you’re not in the best shape you could be.

..but I work long hours.
..but I’ve just had a baby.
..but I’ve got no support at home.

Yes, it’s easy to come up with a list as long as, well, forever, about how we are too busy, too distracted, too ‘unsupported,’ too whatever, to take proper care of ourselves.

It’s hard, I know. I get it.

I have two small children myself, I run my own business, I have an endless to-do list, and at times I feel like giving up, too!

Really I do!

Yet I know that would not be the right path to take.

Feeling sick, tired, and lethargic, is not the best me I can be.

So, the only option is to just keep on going.

Motivation will wax and wane

What you need to realize is that it’s just not possible to maintain the same level of motivation all of the time.

Somehow we keep forgetting this, and so when the challenges come, we feel like giving up at the first hurdle.

You need to expect those times when your motivation will be seriously lacking; just do a little to at least minimize the ‘damage.’

  • Yes, your efforts may be pathetic at times: but you’re still trying.
  • Your meals may not be perfectly balanced and nutritious at every single meal: but you don’t give up.
  • Maybe your workouts are practically nonexistent: believe me, you can pull that back from the brink!

The truth of the matter is this, you have to work hard at this.

And, it will be a struggle.

And, you will feel like it’s not even worth it at times.

That’s the reality.

Somehow you finally come out of the cloud. Often you don’t even know how, but you got there.

Just keep on going.

If you are at least trying (even just a little!), you can be sure that progress is happening.

And, while it may be a lot slower than your instant gratification needs it to be, rest assured all you need to do is keep on going.

  • Little by little making more healthy food choices than unhealthy.
  • Little by little adding more activity into your daily life.
  • Little by little moving from a more negative attitude to a more positive one.

Choose Your Hard

I really do get that it can be hard to reach your goals.

What you need to be aware of, though, is that no matter what physical goal you have, it is going to take a lot of work.

Whether you want to improve your diet, get leaner, or simply maintain your weight, it will take effort.

People often have this misguided thinking that when they get to their goal weight (or maintenance stage) everything will suddenly become easy.

But, it takes a lot of effort to maintain your weight, too.

You still need to eat mindfully, make careful food choices, and be active. If you don’t, you’ll end up waaay off track, and we all know how painful it is to get back on track afterwards.

At the other end of the scale, if you don’t take care of yourself you could end up sick, and that’s no walk in the park either.

My point is this, it’s hard no matter what goal you choose.

So, if you are to really to make a difference you need to get a grip of the 3 C’s of life:

“You must make a choice, to take a chance, or your life will never change.” – Share this quote

Basically, if you are ever to get to where you really want to be, you must be willing to make the choices and take those chances.

Nothing really worth having in life comes super easy.

So stop expecting the impossible in terms of your health.

As you look at where you are now and where you want to be, remember this…

You get to choose your path

It’s hard whatever path your choose,

  • Being unhealthy is hard.
  • Getting the results you want is hard.
  • And maintaining those results is hard, too.
