We all know I love Medjool dates. You can eat them plain or stuffed with nut butter as a snack but I also love to use them in both sweet and savory recipes like these snickers stuffed dates, bacon wrapped dates, pistachio salmon salad, date mounds bars and this 4-ingredient date caramel sauce!
It’s one of my favorite ways to showcase the natural sweetness of Medjool dates. It’s quick, easy, and incredibly versatile. You can drizzle it over banana ice cream, mix it into your morning oatmeal (like with this salted caramel oatmeal), or use it as a dip for apple slices. You can buy medjool dates that are already pitted or have the pits that you pit yourself (it’s super easy). Two brands that I like are Natural Delights and Joolies. You can find Natural Delights in the produce section of most grocery stores (near the bananas) and Joolies are offered on Amazon and Thrive Market. Your dates should be soft, not hard. If they are dry or hard, you can soak them in water for about 30 minutes, drain and then use them in the recipe.
- sea salt – just a touch, to bring the flavors together!
- vanilla extract – a flavor enhancer.
- unsweetened almond milk – you can use store-bought or make your own almond milk. To make it nut-free, use oat milk or coconut milk.
