Marinated Grilled Pork Sirloin Chops – Kalyn’s Kitchen


These Marinated Grilled Pork Sirloin Chops marinate all day in an interesting mixture that has soy sauce, cumin, and lime. Then grill the pork sirloin chops and make a salad and you’ve got a perfect dinner that’s extra low in carbs!

There are a few recipes on my site for grilled pork chops, so recently I decided to update this one so it’s more specific, and these Marinated Grilled Pork Sirloin Chops use one of my favorite cuts of pork! And these pork chops were so delicious, and this recipe is is another winner for pork cooked on the grill. I loved how the touch of cumin and lime in the soy-sauce marinade worked with the flavor of the grilled pork.

I loved this recipe made with pork sirloin chops; read below for more information about that cut of pork, and if you don’t see it where you buy meat, just ask your butcher to cut some for you. And these tasty grilled pork sirloin chops are extra low in carbs, and with gluten-free soy sauce this recipe can easily be gluten-free.

What are Pork Sirloin Chops?

Pork sirloin chops are a less expensive and less tender cut of pork that’s taken from the back of the loin. They may may contain a few different muscle groups which is one reason they’re inexpensive, and you might need to ask the butcher to cut some for you if you don’t see this cut of pork where you buy your meat. Pork sirloin chops are often recommended to be braised or cooked in a slow cooker to tenderize them, but the all-day marinating also makes this cut of pork good for cooking on the grill.

Why should you marinate pork sirloin chops before grilling?

I think using a marinade and marinating the pork chops all day is a great way to add flavor and keep the meat moist when you’re grilling pork chops, and these pork chops were juicy and delicious, definitely a tasty idea for a summer dinner!

Making Marinated Grilled Pork Sirloin Chops without an outdoor grill:

Pork chops like this can easily be cooked on a stovetop grill pan (affiliate link) or a George Foreman Grill (affiilate link) with great results. And when you use one of those methods, you can make juicy pork chops any time of year! Remember that the George Foreman Grill cooks both sides at once, so the cooking time will be shorter.

How to make Marinated Grilled Pork Sirloin Chops:

  1. This cut of pork may have a little fat on the edges, but I trim most of the fat. 
  2. Mix together the soy sauce or Gluten-Free Soy Sauce (affiliate link), fresh lime juice, olive oil, ground cumin, dried oregano, Chipotle Chile powder, onion powder, and garlic powder for the marinade.
  3. Put pork sirloin chops in a large Ziploc bag with the marinade, and marinate in the fridge for 6-8 hours (or longer won’t hurt.)
  4. When it’s time to cook, spray grill with non-stick spray or olive oil and then preheat to medium-high heat while you drain the pork chops and let them come to room temperature. 
  5. If you want criss-cross grill marks lay pork chops at an angle across the grill grates.
  6. When you can lift the edge and see good grill marks (about 3 minutes) rotate pork chops so they’re going the opposite way and cook about 3 minutes more.
  7. Check grill marks again and when they’re as dark as you want, turn pork chops over and cook about 3-4 minutes more on the second side, or until pork is cooked though.
  8. I recommend using an Instant-Read Meat Thermometer (affiliate link) to check that pork has reached the safe temperature of 145F/63C that’s recommended for grilled pork but if you don’t have a meat thermometer, pork should feel firm but not hard to the touch when it’s done.
  9. Let pork chops rest for 3-5 minutes when you take them off the grill and then serve hot and enjoy!

Can you make this recipe with bone-in pork chops?

I do love pork sirloin chops, but this photo shows bone-in pork chops that were marinated in this same soy-lime-cumin marinade and then grilled, so use bone-in pork chops if that’s what you prefer.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 4 thick boneless pork sirloin chops (see notes)

Marinade Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (see notes)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (see notes)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin (or a little less if you’re not a big cumin fan)
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano ( see notes)
  • pinch of Chipotle chile powder (or use a dash of hot sauce)
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Sometimes this cut of pork will have a little fat on the edges, but I trim most of the fat. Take your choice on how much trimming you prefer.
  2. Mix together the soy sauce or Gluten-Free Soy Sauce, fresh-squeezed lime juice, olive oil, ground cumin, dried oregano, Chipotle Chile powder, onion powder, and garlic powder to make the flavorful marinade
  3. Put pork sirloin chops in a large Ziploc bag or container with a snap-tight lid, pour marinade over, seal bag or container, and marinate in the fridge for 6-8 hours (or longer won’t hurt if you want to marinate all day while you’re at work.
  4. When it’s time to cook, spray the grill with non-stick spray or olive oil and then preheat the grill to medium-high heat while you drain the pork chops and let them come to room temperature. (George Foreman Grills or stovetop grill pans only need to be preheated for a few minutes.)
  5. If you want criss-cross grill marks lay the pork chops at an angle across the grill grates.
  6. As soon as you can lift the edge of one pork chop and see good grill marks (about 3 minutes) rotate the pork chops so they’re going the opposite way across the grill grates and cook about 3 minutes more
  7. Check grill marks again and when you’re happy with them, turn pork chops over and cook about 3-4 minutes more on the second side, or until pork is cooked though.
  8. Start checking for doneness about 3 minutes after you turn pork chops over; I recommend using an Instant-Read Meat Thermometer (affiliate link) to check that pork has reached the safe temperature of 145F/63C that’s recommended for grilled pork but if you don’t have a meat thermometer, pork should feel firm but not hard to the touch when it’s done.
  9. Let pork chops rest for 3-5 minutes when you take them off the grill and then serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Choose pork sirloin chops that are close to one inch thick. You might have to ask the butcher to cut these for you.

I used Tamari Gluten-Free Soy Sauce (affiliate link) for this recipe; for Paleo use Coconut Aminos (affiliate link) instead of soy sauce.

I used my fresh-frozen lime juice. I used Mexican Oregano (affiliate link) but if you don’t have that regular dried oregano will be fine.
