Weight Loss

whoa there, wine-o!

Prior Fat Girl –

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I changed up my coffee consumption which has been going well. But now, it has become obvious that isn’t the only beverage consumption I need to change. I’m going to need to switch up my wine consumption.

As in, WHOA THERE, WINE-O!

Here’s the deal… I enjoy going home and having a glass of wine. A glass of wine is no problem. Going home, pouring a glass of red wine and sipping on that glass of wine while I’m cooking dinner. Zipping around the kitchen, going from chopping to sautéing, from stirring sauces to plating dishes, all while I sip on a glass of wine. I love holding the glass in my hands, savoring every sip. After dinner, getting all curled up next to Carlos with a glass of wine, and Iggy next to us. THAT is my idea of happiness. I don’t chug. I don’t drink until a drunken state of being. I don’t escape life through the glass of wine. I just enjoy the simple act of sipping on a glass of wine. A lot of days, it’s just one glass of wine but there are days when it’s 2 glasses of wine. And if I do have a 3rd glass of wine, it’s on a Friday or Saturday and I’m enjoying a glass with dinner or with friends. Individually, it all feels fine but by the end of the week, the number of glasses has added up. There are no red flags for me, I don’t ever feel like I *need* to have wine to make it through the night – I just *enjoy* drinking a glass or two.

I was talking with my therapist two weeks ago about how I feel like I need to not have that many glasses of wine each week. She asked what’s stopping me and I explained the above to her. She acknowledged it and then told me I can’t just STOP having my glass of wine because it would be taking away something that I enjoy so instead, I need to replace it with something else to balance it out. My therapist suggested a beautiful mug of tea and I wrinkled my nose.

I am NOT a tea drinker usually…bland lightly flavored water, eeww. There is one exception to my nose wrinkling. Good Earth Original Sweet & Spicy Tea. Oh my laaaawdy, it is so delicious.

This is not flavored water, friends. It is the most deliciously flavored cup of warmed up spices and flavor you will ever know. So much flavor though, I just can’t drink it every day in a row. So, I sought out to find alternatives. And where else do we go when we need recommendations? SOCIAL MEDIA!

I got almost 30 responses with amazing recommendations – so appreciative! There were two teas that came up multiple times, so I decided to start with those first.

TAZO Passion and TAZO Wild Sweet Orange.

And let me just say, they did NOT disappoint.

I had the TAZO Wild Sweet Orange last night and I have to tell you friends, it totally did the trick. Curling up next to Carlos with a warm mug, it was so perfect. My happiness really truly is just curling up next to Carlos – maybe what I’m sipping may NOT be so important other than it just has to taste good and have a bold flavor. I tried the TAZO Passion this morning and it was so delicious! While I did have the TAZO Passion this morning because I wanted to taste it, I’m not going to drink it during the day because I don’t want the allure or the “looking forward to” feeling to become diluted by me drinking the tea multiple times during the day. I want to save it, to look forward to it in the evenings.

I’m NOT saying I’m going to stop drinking wine…

ooohhh, I do look forward to having a glass or two. It just really needs to be every once in awhile, not every day.

It’s just another way I need to continue to find balance in life.
